Welcome to Whitstable Sea Cadets, the oldest Sea Cadet Unit in the World.

Whitstable Sea Cadets is based in Whitstable, Kent, England and is a youth organisation where boys and girls aged 10 to 18 are able to come and enjoy training and activities including sailing, powerboating, expedition training, band, drill, shooting and many other fun things.

The cost is only £1.50 per week for senior cadets and £1 for juniors and they get issued a uniform free of charge. As part of their membership to Whitstable SCC the cadets get take part in many different events and activities.

The cadets get access to the vast array of nationally run courses from Sea Cadet specialised courses to Royal Yachting Association waterborne courses, they are accommodated in Sea Cadet and military training establishments. If music is your thing, or windsurfing, even scuba diving, then we have a course to suit you. A week's course can cost as little as £30.

Where else would you get value for money like that?

We have an excellent marching band at Whitstable in fact the cadets have held the top spot in their class at the Sea Cadet national competition for the last 6 years. By joining the band you can get taught how to play a range of instruments and will have the opportunity to take part in many different events throughout the year all over the country from fun events such as carnivals, to military ceremonial parades such as Trafalgar Day parade to colossal 100 strong massed band displays for events such as the International Festival Of the Sea in Portsmouth.

In conjunction with the East Kent Sea Cadets Boat station and the Oyster Coast Water Sports centre we are able to provide cadets with boating opportunities throughout the year. Through the RYA schemes we are able to provide training in power boating and sailing and through the BCU schemes we can provide training in canoeing. Through our own internal scheme we can provide training in rowing (or pulling as it is known in the Royal Navy).

Expedition Training

There's nothing better, to inspire leadership and teamwork, than going on a weekend hike with nothing but what you can carry on your back. If camping and hiking floats your boat then we can offer expedition training courses coordinated through our training centre at Middle Hill. Qualifications can be gained all the way up to mountain leader!

If you are interested in joining then please come down and see us for a chat. We are always looking for new staff and new cadets. Our parade nights are on Monday and Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00 and our band night is on Friday 19:00 to 21:00.
